14/06/2007 11:13:29 - How long can I wear the wig for?
The wig can be worn for up to six weeks. The duration of the wig depends on the adhesive that you are using. If you buy an adhesive that is for daily wear the hold will only last for up to 1-10 days. If you want to wear the unit longer then you have to buy extended wear adhesives which can last for 3-6 weeks. You do not have to remove the unit until you decide to and/ or when your adhesive hold starts to slip. The unit does not require frequent washing. Full instructions on how to apply the unit and care and maintenance are included in each wig order. We sell both daily wear and extended wear adhesives in either liquid or tape and we sell various adhesive removers .

14/06/2007 11:13:02 - Will the hair feel bulky underneath the wig?
This depends on the amount of hair that you have underneath the wig cap. Unless you have severe hair loss it should be reassuring to know that you have your own hair underneath the cap. The bulk underneath is dependent on how you style your own hair i.e. braid, cornrows, slicked back etc. The ’bulk ’ of your hair is inconsequential, visually a lace front wig is undetectable and does not look ‘bulky’ and only you know that you are wearing a wig. If you leave insecurities behind and wear your lace front with confidence it remains your secret.

14/06/2007 11:12:38 - With Lace front wigs is it possible to wear the hair off the face, i.e. comb it back in a pony tail or half up and half down?
Yes, it is possible to wear the hair off the face, i.e. comb it back in a pony tail. It can be drawn back in a low pony tail, higher if you choose to have the thin skin or extended French /Swiss lace at the nape and apply adhesive to hold the wig to the nape. The hair can be pulled back away from the face or you can choose to wear the hair half up and half down.

14/06/2007 11:12:10 - Can I sleep in the wig?
Yes you can sleep in the wig but we would advice you wear a silk scarf to wrap your head, just as you would your own hair to retain the style.

14/06/2007 11:11:40 - Does the lace show on African American darker skin complexion?
French lace and Swiss lace is undetectable. Swiss lace is the most undetectable but is also the most fragile. Both lace materials have to be treated delicately and with care but does not require colouring to match any particular skin tone, they suit everyone especially if you are using transparent lace.  However, as there are many different skin tones, what might suit a fair complexion, may not suit a darker skin tone, to combat this problem if it arises, simply cut all the extra lace back to the hairline.

14/06/2007 11:11:14 - The weather is very hot in our location, will my lace front stay on my head?
This wig is made and manufactured in Asia where temperatures can rise above 45 centigrade, 100 Fahrenheit! Our clients are all over the world in many extreme temperatures. With the right application your lace front wig will not be affected by the temperature and will remain in place. Lace front wigs are lighter than standard wigs and therefore not as hot as most people would imagine.

14/06/2007 11:10:38 - Can I swim in a lace front wig and do other sports activities?
Yes, if you have applied the adhesive/ tape as instructed by the manufacturer and us there is no reason why you cannot continue your normal everyday activities. Swim, run, Pilates, gym even swinging from the chandeliers is possible...if not unsafe.

14/06/2007 11:09:56 - Do I need a wig cap and how do I clean it?
If you wear a wig cap under your wig in order to contain your hair or attach your wig more securely, then you will want to keep it clean. Since the wig doesn¹t really touch your head and the cap does; you can keep things fresh by cleaning the wig cap with a drop of soap or shampoo and cold water. Just squish it around by hand and hang out to dry overnight.

14/06/2007 11:09:15 - Can I use heat on my wig like a blow dryer or curling iron?
On human hair wigs, you can use light heat for gentle styling and maintenance.

14/06/2007 11:08:38 - Can I use hairspray on my wig?
With a gentle touch this wig will maintain its style for quite a while depending on your use and the style that you have. Try and avoid heavy lacquered based sprays as they will leave residue and weigh the wig down.

14/06/2007 11:07:50 - How do I clean the lace?
Clean lace is important to the look of the wig as stated above so keeping it tidy is essential. This is done with gauze pads and alcohol. Lay the wig on its back off the block, place the gauze pad behind the lace and taking another gauze pad dab gently at the lace changing the pad underneath the lace as it becomes soiled from the makeup residue. Always use gauze not cotton pads if possible as they will leave behind bits of fuzz.

14/06/2007 11:07:18 - Do I need to powder or put make-up over the lace when I wear it?
Not really, the delicate nature of the lace is what makes it invisible. The cleaner the lace; the more invisible it is. No one else will know this is a wig except you. However, many people are self conscientious and therefore a light powder foundation can be applied but is not necessary.

14/06/2007 11:06:39 - Should I pin the lace or the wig down on the block?
Not unless you are styling it and when you do this be careful to avoid the lace front and remember only use very small dressmaker pins so as not to damage the wig.

14/06/2007 11:05:55 - Should I cut the lace?
The shorter the lace the shorter the life span of the wig. With good application when applying the lace to your forehead the lace simply disappears creating an illusion of hair growing directly from the scalp. When you receive your wig and you find that the lace is too long, lets say touching your eyebrow, then of course we recommend trimming it slightly but cut on the curve as you do not want to disrupt the cross tension which ensures a proper fit.

14/06/2007 11:05:22 - How should I store my wig?
The best place for a wig to live is on a wig block , Styrofoam head, wig box or even a clean clear plastic bag. This will insure that it is not being crushed or flattened in any way.

14/06/2007 11:04:53 - What if the solvent gets in my eyes?
If you should happen to get any solvent in your eyes; flush quickly with water.

14/06/2007 11:04:11 - What is the best way to remove any remaining residue still in the base and hair?
Apply shampoo to the wet unit. Allow shampoo time to work. Do not rub the hair, gently squish back and forth in the water. Rinse out the shampoo using warm water, using a sink sprayer, from the hair side of lace front. When done; shake out the lace front. Let it dry out at room temperature while secured to a wig block or head bloc, Styrofoam mannequin or towel.

14/06/2007 11:03:40 - What to do after cleaning the residue from your lace front so new adhesive or toupee tape sticks correctly again?
Some removers, solvents, and alcohol are oil based and after using will leave a residue. Simply by washing the areas where they were used with shampoo and water will allow adhesive or toupee tape to stick correctly again! The unit must be dry before applying adhesive or toupee tape.

14/06/2007 11:03:06 - What to do when a adhesive or toupee tape residue in embedded into the lace or when it remains on the polyurethane base?
You should gently remove any remaining adhesive or toupee tape residue with adhesive remover, solvent, or alcohol. Be patient and give the solvent time to soften the residue. Using a lint free rag or microfiber towels work well when cleaning away residue.

14/06/2007 11:02:30 - How to avoid pulling hair out of your lace front when removing it?
You must completely release the adhesive or tape from bonding to your scalp before attempting to remove your piece. This helps, but may not eliminate this problem completely.

14/06/2007 11:01:57 - Where is the best place to start releasing your lace front when removing it?
Starting at the front left or right temple; peel up the edge and remove it like you would a large bandage.

14/06/2007 11:01:16 - How do I remove adhesive when it stays on my scalp/ forehead after removing my lace front?
The adhesive may easily be cleaned from your scalp after the lace front is removed using a adhesive remover, solvent, or alcohol.

14/06/2007 11:00:41 - How to remove toupee tape from a polyurethane lace front wig base?
Start by slowly peeling the lace front from your head. When using an extended wear bonding toupee tape; first spray or drip adhesive remover, solvent, or alcohol between your scalp and the tape to make it more easy to remove.

14/06/2007 10:59:40 - How to remove a lace front hairpiece without damaging it?
Always proceed gently when removing wigs. Using a adhesive remover, dab or spray at the area from the hair side of the lace front where the adhesive/ tape was placed. Wait for a minute for the adhesive/tape to soften. After a minute gently pull away from the skin slowly and carefully. Always clean your pieces before re-applying by placing on a paper towel and dabbing at the adhesive/tape to dissolve the glue. Never use anything but approved cleansers for this process.

14/06/2007 10:58:35 - What are the adhesive and tapes that I need to use on my wig?
There are various adhesives (glues) or tapes suitable of being used on human skin for securing your lace front wig on the market. The most popular brands are Mity tight, Ultra Hold, Safe Grip, Spirit Gum or various medical grade double sided tapes such as SuperTape. First, try on the wig without applying any form of adhesive. You are determining where your natural hairline should begin with your lace. Do not cut the lace until you have determined how much lace you want to be left. Remember the lace will not be so obvious when adhesive is applied. Clean the area where you want to tack down the lace (usually the temples) of oils and debris from the skin. Always use the liquid adhesive sparingly where you feel appropriate, either the temples, near the centre forehead or a thin line across the forehead. Full detail instructions on lace front wig application will be included in all orders.

14/06/2007 10:56:54 - Can I wash and set my wig myself?
Absolutely, this is your wig, style as you would your own hair. Some hairstyles will actually last longer on your wig such as curls using setting lotion.

14/06/2007 10:56:23 - How long will my wig last?
With proper care and maintenance one of our quality wigs can last for a month up to a year or more but this depends on frequency of use. If you are wearing a unit everyday, then general wear and tear will reduce the life span of the unit unless you buy more than one unit. The cost of the unit works out to be cheaper than a weave as you can re-use the wig. Clients with severe hairloss such as Alopecia who wear the same unit everyday have an average life span of 3-4 months for a wig before it may require repair or complete replacement.  The life span of the wig will ultimately fall with the owner and their care and maintenance regime.

14/06/2007 10:53:48 - Where does the hair come from?

14/06/2007 10:53:04 - How do I care for my wig when It arrives at home?
Because of their delicate nature we gently wrap each pre-styled wig individually and place it in its own shipping box. When this arrives you simply open the box, carefully unwrap the wig, place on a block or Styrofoam mannequin head, prep hair with wig cap, place wig on head, secure, and your ready to go.

14/06/2007 10:52:40 - How do I style my own hair underneath the lace front wig?
You have a few styling options dependent on the length of your hair: Wig stocking for everyone regardless of length and texture of hair will give a flat appearance to your head shape and secure your hair in place; Cornrows braided from front to back of nape; Cornrows braided into a beehive; Hair slicked back with gel and then length pinned up against scalp; French braid then plaited length pinned up against scalp and Pony tail and ends pinned up securely.

14/06/2007 10:52:05 - Do you recommend human-hair or synthetics?
We recommend human hair as it offers more styling options; after all, this is an alternative to your own hair.

14/06/2007 10:51:28 - How do I know what length of wig I will receive?
Our units are measured from the nape and estimated from the crown to the longest tip of hair. We normally supply units with a longer length for them to be styled with your stylist but the unit you are purchasing can be estimated by viewing the crown to tip measurement details on the ‘product detail’ or ‘measurements‘ WebPages. Use a flat soft tape measure and measure from the top of your head (crown) to the length you have order, that is the length you should receive.
